Border I
The fading barks almost ochre
Silhouetted in the water of the river
The silent river Tel.
Colours of the rainbow dance with the stream
cool air and swirling mist
the stretched waste land
monsoon steals
here comes Hariyali and Nuakhai.
It took all we had, we left our homes drawn with the wind;
and my partner of years fell to the lust of the brewed spirit
life goes past in frames.
I vow to fulfill his last wish
to make my three children learn
breathe the air of my native
gifting myself the most powerful;
the independence.
Once in a dream in three years
he wanted to share the unshared truth
Alas! My slumber breaks
I miss my first love, the first person in life
Living on the refuge of the land and the state
my dialects, Oriya, Chhatisgarhi and Hindi
struggle to fight.
Nuakhai yet again and my half fed children
festive is the air for all else
this border village, the scheme unfolds at pinnacle
I stretch on the wall;
have to bring smoke before the sunset.
