Death Doesn’t Need Wings
“I ascend from the moon,
I ascend from the night,”
-- Walt Whitman
I fall
below the sky
at my own discretion.
A sucker
for an open window.
And the promise
of a forgetful soul
resting quietly
on the other side.
What the Third Eye Can See
Tri-spheres
sit in the dark.
On a satin table
no one forgot.
They refuse to roll.
But take turns
spinning the glow.
The center reflection
of a teacher.
The duller absence
of what arrived before.
And the opaque shine
of a future
with no detail.
Rational Reproduction
It is amazing.
The colors you can see
in the promise
of an unlit match.
And the odd fuchsia
consuming the glare
of empty space.
The bed of broken fibers
awaiting the returning ghosts
of the flared.
